Tamar Braxton reveals she’ll star in her own reality show on We

Photo: Monty Brinton/CBS ©2019 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. All Rights Reserved(NEW YORK) — Tamar Braxton’s probably still riding the high from her historic Celebrity Big Brother win, but the singer will have much more to celebrate upon the arrival of her new reality show.

Braxton sat down with Wendy Williams Tuesday to share that she’s landed her own series on We TV. While the Bluebird of Happiness vocalist is no stranger to reality TV — she’s been scene-stealing her way through Braxton Family Values since 2011 — her forthcoming spin-off will be the first time she’s carried a show all on her own.

Braxton also revealed that her estranged husband Vincent Herbert is also set to appear in the series.   “Vince and I are not enemies,” said Tamar. “We co-parent really, really well.”

Braxton and Herbert’s highly-publicized 2017 split was fueled by allegations of domestic violence, family feuds and financial issues. They share a 6-year-old son, Logan Herbert.

While details are still scarce regarding the yet-to-be-titled show, Braxton shared that the series will reflect more of a sitcom vibe.

“I’m really about my business nowadays,” she added. “In 2019, you have to grow up at some point. I’ll be 42 later on this month.”

In the meantime, Tamar’s fans can catch her on the newest season of Braxton Family Values, set to arrive on April 4.  Last month, Tamar became the first African-American to win CBS’ Celebrity Big Brother, taking home a $250,000 prize for her trouble.

Jason Priestley memorializes his “dear friend” Luke Perry: “You burned oh, so brightly”

Photo by Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) — Finally, Brandon has eulogized Dylan.

Jason Priestley has taken to Instagram to address Monday’s death of his “dear friend” and former Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star Luke Perry.

Riverdale star Perry, who was 52, passed away after suffering a massive stroke on Thursday.

“It’s taken me a couple of days to figure out how to write this,” Priestley admitted. “My dear friend of 29 years, Luke Perry, was one of those truly special people who really cared… Luke was not only a star, he was an incredibly bright light that was extinguished far too soon.”

“Aand that is why I, and so many others, are in so much pain today,” he continued. “If you had the good fortune to know Luke, or to have ever crossed his path, I know you are sad today as well.”

Priestley closed with, “The candle that burns twice as bright only burns for half as long… you burned oh, so brightly Luke… Goodnight Sweet Prince.”
On Wednesday, Perry’s 21-year-old son Jack, noted on social media of his father: “He was a lot of things to a lot of people. To me, he was always Dad.”

The professional wrestler added, “He loved and supported me in everything, and inspired me to be the best that I could possibly be. I’ve learned so much from you, and my heart is broken thinking about everything you won’t be here for. I’ll miss you every day that I walk this earth.”

A day prior, Perry’s 18-year-old daughter, Sophie Perry, memorialized her dad, and thanked fans for their “overwhelming amount of love and support.”

Report: Idris Elba to replace Will Smith as Deadshot in ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel

ABC/ Lorenzo Bevilaqua(NEW YORK) — Cue the music montage: the Suicide Squad reportedly has a new member.

According to Variety, Luther star Idris Elba will play the Deadshot in the upcoming sequel to the DC Comics villain team-up movie.

Will Smith played the sharpshooting assassin in the first Suicide Squad movie, which was released in 2016. However, Variety reported last week that Smith had dropped out of the sequel due to scheduling conflicts.

Additional casting for the Suicide Squad sequel is still very much up in the air, even as the studio has set an August 6, 2021 release date for the film. Margot Robbie, for example, is still unconfirmed to return as Harley Quinn. However, she is reprising the role in Birds of Prey, slated for a 2020 release.

Suicide Squad 2 will be written by Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker James Gunn, who’s also rumored to direct.

‘Captain Marvel’ co-stars Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson sing Ariana Grande, take a lie detector test on “Carpool Karaoke” preview

Marvel Studios(LOS ANGELES) — Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson sing Ariana Grande and administer a lie detector test on each other in a promo for a new installment of “Carpool Karaoke.”

James Corden shared a lengthy clip of the new episode during Wednesday night’s The Late Late Show, on which Jackson appeared as a guest.

Like their Captain Marvel characters Carol Danvers and Nick Fury, Brie and Samuel L. spend time together driving around in a car.  Unlike the movie, they pass the time singing Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings.”  That is until the veteran Pulp Fiction actor makes a stop to pick up a man who then straps Brie to a lie detector machine and joins them for the rest of the ride.

“Would you be honest with me if you didn’t like my performance in a scene?” Jackson asks. “Nope,” is the quick retort from Brie, confirmed by the lie detector.

But when Jackson asks Larson “Do you actually like my Kangol hats?” her “yes” is overruled by the man in the back seat: “That’s a lie.”

Brie gets to turn the tables on Jackson when it’s his turn to strap on the lie detector. “Do you like the Captain Marvel suit?” His yes proves to be true, to his relief and, probably, that of Marvel Studios.

See the whole “Carpool Karaoke” ride on Friday, March 8 airing on Apple TV.  Captain Marvel opens this Friday.

Marvel Studios is owned by Disney, parent company of ABC News.

“Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek announces he has stage four pancreatic cancer: “I’m gonna fight this”

Ethan Miller/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek has announced that he’s seriously ill.

In a YouTube video, Trebek said, “Just like 50,000 other people in the United States this year, this week I was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.”

“Now, normally the prognosis for this is not very encouraging but I’m gonna fight this,” he added. “And I’m gonna keep working and with the love and support of my family and friends, and with the help of your prayers, also, I plan the beat the low-survival-rate statistics of this disease.”

He then joked, “Truth told, I have to!  Because under the terms of my contract, I have to host Jeopardy! for three more years! So help me!  Keep the faith and we’ll win. We’ll get it done. Thank you.

Trebek, 78, has hosted the syndicated show for more than 30 years.

This isn’t Trebek’s first serious health issue. In January of 2018, he announced that he’d undergone brain surgery over the Christmas holiday to treat a subdural hematoma — blood clots on the brain — which he suffered as a result of a fall.

He also suffered a mild heart attack in 2012 and underwent knee surgery in 2015.

Jeopardy! debuted as a daytime show in 1964, and ran until 1975. A weekly nighttime syndicated edition aired from 1974-75, and a revival — The All-New Jeopardy! — ran on NBC from 1978-1979. The current version premiered in 1984.

‘Deadly Class’ star Taylor Hickson teases lead-up to “killer” season finale

Photo by: Katie Yu/SYFY(NEW YORK) — With just three more episodes to go, Deadly Class is gearing up for a truly killer season finale.

Taylor Hickson, who stars as goth girl Petra in the Syfy comic book series about high school assassins, teases what fans can expect as the show’s first season winds down.

“Basically the next coming episodes all sort of lead up to the finale and it is killer,” she tells ABC Radio. “It’s so good, it’s so well-written, super action-packed.”

Taylor promises we’ll get to see more of Petra’s growing relationship with fellow classmate Billy, played by Liam James.

“That’s my favorite thing that’s been developing so far and I hope they take that into season two,” she says. “It’s definitely a stronger connection than in the comics and I don’t think they had any romantic interest at all in the graphic novel. …I’m excited to see how audiences take it.”

While on some level, Hickson can relate to Petra’s high school struggles, she is decidedly less goth. The Canadian 21-year-old sports platinum blonde hair in real life, while Petra has a black spiky bob and dark makeup.

“I wasn’t recognized at the premiere. People thought I was an audience member,” she says. “They were like, ‘How’d you enjoy it?’ I was like, ‘Well, I’ve seen it 57 times.'”

Deadly Class — which also stars Lana Condor, Benjamin Wadsworth and Benedict Wong — airs tonight on Syfy at 10 p.m. ET. You can also catch Hickson in the indie flick, Giant Little Ones, out now.

What if Superman grew up to be a bad guy? Check out the trailer for ‘Brightburn’

Photo: Boris Martin/Courtesy of Sony Pictures ©2018 CTMG, Inc. All rights reserved.(NEW YORK) — James Gunn was the writer and director of the Guardians of the Galaxy series, until a series of years-old tasteless tweets led to his ouster at Marvel Studios.  He’s now taken his talents to Sony Pictures, and created a twisted take on the superhero genre called Brightburn.

The teaser for the film he produced give us a glimpse of a Superman-like premise: A being from beyond the stars falls to earth, where two humans from the American heartland raise him as their own. Like young Clark Kent, Brightburn‘s young Brandon Breyer has superhuman powers, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he evolves into something more sinister.

Pitch Perfect‘s Elizabeth Banks and The Office’s David Denman play the parents of the boy, who, as the trailer teases, quickly discovers the horrifying potential of his super-strength, heat vision and ability to fly.

The movie, which was co-written by Gunn’s brother Brian Gunn and their cousin Mark Gunn, and directed by Guardians of the Galaxy actor-turned filmmaker David Yarovesky, opens May 24.

Terry Crews says his ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ co-star helped him see why his same-sex parenting comments were offensive

L-R: Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews — Vivian Zink/NBC(NEW YORK) — Terry Crews is once again apologizing for recent comments he made against same-sex parenting.

Last week, Crews was criticized for his response to a New York Times OP-ED piece titled “Why Does Obama Scold Black Boys?”

In his critique of the article, Crews argued that children need a mother and a father and called children of same-sex parents “severely malnourished.”

“Another thing that bothers me is that this OP-ED was written by a WOMAN about how boys should be taught to grow into successful young men,” he also tweeted. “How would she know?”

He later issued an apology for his use of the words “severely malnourished,” and then Tuesday issued another apology, saying a talk with his bisexual co-star Stephanie Beatriz, really helped him understand why his comments were truly offensive.

“Had a great talk with @iamstephbeatz this morning on set that shed a lot of light on why the LBGTQ community were hurt by my comments,” he wrote. “I want to apologize for anyone who was triggered or felt targeted. I was speaking out of my very personal experiences as a Black Father.”

He continued, “And while these experiences for me are very true and real, these can differ greatly from the experiences of others. Being able to sit with @iamstephbeatz gave me a perspective I had not seen before.”

Crews then shared a few important lessons.

“I believe men need to be more vulnerable in order to fix the many problems that we created and this starts with me,” he added. “We don’t always have to agree, but we must always listen. I love every person on earth, and want to see every man, woman and child flourish.”
