‘The Walking Dead’ lead Lauren Cohan reveals “I don’t die!” in Season 9

AMC/Gene Page(NEW YORK) — Actress Lauren Cohan, best-known for her role as farm girl-turned resistance leader Maggie Rhee on The Walking Dead, might have spilled the beans about her fate on the show, during an appearance on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan Thursday.

It had been widely reported that season 9 will be Cohan’s last, and that usually means one thing on the apocalyptic drama: Her character is a goner.

But during her chat with Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest, she answered a question about whether or not she’ll be done after season nine by saying, “It is my last season that we know of. It’s an open-ended story.” She then blurted out, “I don’t die!”

“We’re just exploring,” she added cryptically, but the look in her eyes seemed to indicate that she might have said too much.

Earlier that same day, Cohan told ABC’s Good Morning America that Andrew Lincoln leaving The Walking Dead after nine seasons was understandable.

The English-American actress said of the show’s Rick Grimes, “Everybody feels really supportive for Andy to go…spend more time with his family.”

“He built the show so he’s definitely left us in really good hands.”

Although fans of the show are still in the dark about what might befall Lincoln’s character, Cohan confirmed there’ll be at least one new face to look forward to.

“There is a baby this season, a gorgeous little bean,” she said of her character’s child with husband Glenn, who was murdered by Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan in Season 7.

Laughing about the seasons-long gestation, the actress added, “It was the funniest, longest pregnancy on TV, I think.”

Cohan will be seen next opposite Mark Wahlberg in the action thriller Mile 22, which opens nationwide August 17.

The new season of The Walking Dead premieres Oct. 7.
