President Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was destroyed early this morning, according to ABC affiliate KABC-TV.
According to witnesses and police, a man removed a pick axe from a guitar case about 3 a.m. local time, and smashed the red marble marker on Hollywood Boulevard, which the president had received during his earlier career as a reality TV show star.
A description of the vandal was not available, but pictures showed the tool had been left at the scene.
In November of 2016, days before he defeated Hillary Clinton at the ballot box, President Trump’s star was damaged by a man wielding a sledgehammer; that vandal had hidden in plain sight, dressed like a construction worker.
The suspect, James Lambert Otis, was arrested in 2016. In 2017, the then-53-year old pleaded no contest to a felony count of vandalism. He was slapped with fines and given probation.
