(LOS ANGELES) — Two months ago, Sony greenlit a sequel to the 2017 blockbuster, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and on Wednesday, star Dwayne Johnson revealed the release date.
“THE GAME IS NOT OVER — JUMANJI DECEMBER 13, 2019,” declared a short video posted to his Instagram page, along with a caption that read in part, “Officially planting our JUMANJI flag…And once again, I get to slap [co-star] Kevin Hart’s lips into next week. The world is happy.”
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle — also starring Jack Black, Karen Gillen and Nick Jonas — earned $400 million stateside and nearly $1 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film in the history of Sony Pictures.
