Earlier this week, a good Samaritan in Lumberton, Texas, rescued a 21-month-old baby after his car seat flew out of a vehicle during a turn at a busy intersection.
The incident happened when the child’s mother was making a left turn, the rear passenger door swung open, and the unsecured car seat with the baby fell onto the road.
According to Police Chief Danny Sullins, the baby was not properly secured, nor were two other young children in the vehicle.
Fortunately, a passing driver stopped immediately, picked up the car seat, and pulled into a nearby gas station to call 911. Emergency responders from multiple agencies were on the scene moments later.
The baby suffered a head injury but was conscious and alert when transported to a nearby hospital.
The two other children were unharmed, but local police and Child Protective Services have opened a joint investigation into the matter.
