(NEW YORK) — How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World managed to hold off an unexpectedly strong challenge from Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral, delivering an estimated $30 million in its second week of release. The third installment of the animated franchise has earned a little over $97 million stateside so far, pushing its worldwide totals to upwards of $375 million.
A Madea Family Funeral debuted in second place, taking in an estimated $27 million. That was more than the comedy was expected to earn, and makes it the fourth highest-grossing debut of the nine-film franchise.
Third place belonged to Alita: Battle Angel, which collected an estimated $7 million. Its U.S. totals now stand at more than $72 million in its third week of release, while its global take now tops $350 million.
The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part took fourth place with an estimated $6.6 million. Green Book, the Oscar winner for Best Picture, rounded out the top five with a $4.7 million weekend. Its Oscar wins helped it jump six places from last week’s 11th-place finish in its 16th week of release.
The weekend’s other new release, the thriller Greta — starring Isabelle Huppert and Chloë Grace Moretz — delivered $4.58 million for an eighth-place finish.
