Kids With Missing Limbs Get “Best Christmas Gift” Ever With Bionic Arms

Just this month, three children have received “life-changing” bionic arms through The Big Hero 3 campaign. Founded by Sarah Lockey, the campaign aims to help families of children with missing limbs raise funds for advanced prosthetics. Using over $50-thousand in donations, eight-year-olds Ettie Baker and Zoey Hampton-Pigeon, and 11-year-old Finn Jarvis, were equipped with new, custom made Hero Arms, described as the world’s most affordable multi-grip prosthetic.

Ettie’s mother, Alyse Baker, shared her daughter’s excitement, saying Ettie “screamed” with joy when she got the good news. The Hero Arm will allow her to perform tasks like tying her shoes and riding a bike, helping her feel more independent. Zoey’s father, Thomas, said his daughter was “jumping up and down squealing” when she learned about her new arm. And Finn’s family believes his new bionic arm will open up “endless possibilities” for him.

Lockey expressed joy in being able to help the families fundraise and receive transformative prosthetics. Engineered in Britain, the Hero Arm is now available in over 800 locations across the U.S. for adults and children aged 8 and above. Lockey describes the campaign as her “favorite thing” and a way to bring life-changing opportunities to children while fostering connections between families with similar challenges.
