(LOS ANGELES) — Oprah Winfrey, Beyonce, JAY-Z, Usher, and Pharrell Williams are among the many stars who will appear at the Global Citizen Festival on December 2, 2018 in Johannesburg, South Africa and celebrate the legacy of Nelson Mandela who would have turned 100 this year.
Winfrey will deliver the keynote address for “Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100.” Tyler Perry, Forest Whitaker, Naomi Campbell, and Gayle King will also participate in the celebration along with personalities from around the world.
The event will be held three days before fifth anniversary of Mandela’s passing on December 13, 2013.
The goal of the Mandela 100 campaign is to fulfill the iconic leader’s dream of eradicating extreme poverty. Mandela 100 is dedicated to raising $1 billion to end hunger, increasing access to good nutrition for adolescent girls, reducing HIV/AIDS, advocating for quality education, providing funding for women’s health, ensuring access to clean water and safe sanitation worldwide, and more.
Free tickets can be earned for the show by completing social actions through the Global Citizen program. Registration begins August 21.
