(LOS ANGELES) — In a take-off on the NBC political show Meet the Press, Saturday Night Live signaled a “new low in journalism” as its pundit panel took on Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’ nude photo scandal.
Bezos claims that National Enquirer corporate boss David Pecker was involved in a blackmail scheme over photos the Amazon head allegedly sent to his mistress, Lauren Sanchez, and the “star” of those purported nude selfies took center stage. As moderator Chuck Todd, SNL cast member Kyle Mooney asked, “What do you think the coloration is like?”
The debate also featured a joke that’s sure to be repeated: Kenan Thompson, playing Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson, held up a fake New York Post, with the headline: “Your Amazon Package is on Its Way.”
The show began with another political cold open, with cast member Aidy Bryant in a bald cap, playing acting U.S. Attorney General Matt Whitaker during his contentious congressional hearing last week.
