(LAS VEGAS) — Will Smith plays his own worst enemy – literally – in the upcoming new film, Gemini Man.
Variety reports attendees at CinemaCon, a movie theater industry trade show in Las Vegas, got their first look at the Ang Lee-directed film. Smith plays a down-and-out hitman who faces off against a younger, cloned version of himself.
The film relies on complex visual effects to create the younger clone.
“I’m 50 years old now, and I don’t know that I would have had the experience to play a 23-year-old me [earlier in my career],” Smith said in a pre-taped message at the event.
According to Variety, the rough-cut trailer didn’t reveal much of the plot, but the CGI effects impressed the crowd, making Smith’s younger clone look exactly how he did back in his Fresh Prince of Bel-Airdays.
Clive Owen, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Benedict Wong co-star in the film. A full trailer is expected this summer; the film is set to hit theaters in October.
