(LOS ANGELES) — It’s no secret that most people secretly — or not so secretly — crush on celebrities, but now a noted psychologist and author has drilled down to find out exactly which stars get our motors running.
It’s all part of Dr. Justin J. Lehmiller new book, Tell Me What You Want: The Science of Sexual Desire and How It Can Help You Improve Your Sex Life.
According to a survey of nearly 4,200 people about all things sex, Lehmiller, a PhD and the Director of the Social Psychology Graduate Program at Ball State University, discovered that among straight women, Channing Tatum, Adam Levine, and Ryan Gosling ranked as the most lusted-after male celebs.
Among straight men, Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer Aniston, and Scarlett Johansson, in that order, topped the list.
Dr. Lehmiller discovered other common threads: women liked taller men — the ideal was 6 feet tall, at least, and not overly muscular. Oh, and guys should “manscape” — but don’t go too crazy with the clippers, as just 4% of women dug hairless dudes.
For the men — again, straight ones — shorter brunettes weighing around 130 pounds were more commonly cited as the sexual ideal. The survey also found that the majority of men prefer zero body hair on their partners.
“The Kardashian effect is undeniable,” Dr. Lehmiller. “The most popular descriptions of an ideal fantasy woman was of a petite brunette with an hourglass figure: wide hips and bigger-than-average breasts.”
Surprisingly, just a quarter of the gentlemen polled preferred blondes.
