(LOS ANGELES) — Ahead of his already well-reviewed Mission: Impossible — Fallout, Tom Cruise is already spilling about the next big project on which he’s working: Top Gun: Maverick.
The star tells Entertainment Tonight that he’s tapped Jennifer Connelly for a role in the long-awaited sequel, saying of the A Beautiful Mind Oscar winner, “She [is] very talented, very vibrant.” Cruise enthused, “…[W]e’re just going to have a great cast. Gonna be a lot of fun.”
The movie will also star Val Kilmer, returning as Maverick’s frenemy fellow pilot Tom “Iceman” Kazansky, as well as actor Miles Teller, reportedly playing the son of Mav’s deceased former flying partner Goose, who was played by Anthony Edwards in the first film.
Top Gun: Maverick takes off July 12, 2019.
