(LOS ANGELES) — A new trailer for the Queen/Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody will have fans stomping and clapping along with “We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions,” as the snippet, partially set to the song, shows the genesis of that legendary rock anthem.
“I want to give the audience a song they can perform,” says Gwilym Lee as guitar virtuoso Brian May, before demonstrating the “stomp/stomp/clap” for Rami Malek’s spot-on Mercury.
The trailer shows glimpses of how Freddie joined Brian May and the rest of the group, as well as some of the in-studio innovations that led to the group’s titular masterpiece.
The trailer also gives more glimpses of its portrayal of Queen’s legendary performance at Live Aid, and seems to allude to Mercury’s fatal AIDS diagnosis: Someone says, “I just need a bit of time,” to which Malek replies, “What if I don’t have time?”
Joseph Mazzello plays bassist John Deacon, and Ben Hardy portrays drummer Roger Taylor, when the movie hits theaters November 2.
