(NEW YORK) — Maleficent: Mistress of Evil should make the most money this weekend at the box office. The sequel to 2014’s Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie, Michelle Pfeiffer and Elle Fanning is looking at an opening around $45-50 million, but Jolie says she’s more interested in seeing people leave the the theater with smiles on their faces.
“You want people to be entertained,” she tells ABC News. “You want them to see something they weren’t expecting and you want them to laugh a bit and you want them to be surprised a bit and you want them to just have fun.”
Jolie also hopes the film will change the way people see themselves and the world around them.
“I would hope little kids — or anyone who sees this — and thinks, ‘well, maybe, maybe I need to be more my true self. Maybe I need to open up to my true nature and whether or not people around me accept it or feel comfortable with it is not’is not a burden I should carry,'” she explains.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is now showing in theaters.
