Survey says nearly 60% of Americans want to try something new this summer

It appears Americans want to make up for lost time after last year’s summer that wasn’t; to that end, as the pandemic shows signs of easing, a majority are filling out their bucket list for summer 2021.

new survey says 59% admitted they want to try something for the first time this summer, from trying a new food, to undertaking a road trip to see their bestie, to bungee jumping.

However, a greater majority in the non-scientific poll have one thing in mind: just getting out of the house and away from it all.

The survey from the online RV rental platform Outdoorsy showed 62% say they want to be surrounded by nature during this year’s summer vacation.

To that end, physical activities in the great outdoors are high on the wish list this year, with 47% saying they want to go camping; 44% hoping to water ski; and 41% wishing to go surfing or hiking.

Thirty-six percent said they want to try skydiving for the first time, while 31% just want to lie down and catch some rays.

Eighty-one percent said the pandemic is still altering their vacation plans, so they’re choosing to stay closer to home and travel differently than they might have usually.

Not surprisingly, 40% say the travel must-have this summer is their COVID-19 vaccination.
