(NEW YORK) — How many people want to see Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King? Enough to set a new trailer viewing record.
In the fist 24 hours following its release Thanksgiving Day, Disney says the film’s first minute-and-a-half preview was viewed 224.6 million times — record numbers for the studio. The only trailer that beats those numbers is last year’s first trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, which scored 238 million views its first 24 hours online.
John Favreau, who directed Disney’s 2016 live-action/CGI-combo remake of The Jungle Book, directs The Lion King. Starring the voices of Donald Glover, Beyoncé, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, James Earl Jones and more, it debuts July 19 of next year.
Disney is the parent company of Marvel Studios and ABC News.
